6600 --new key. my unlocking experience
After several hours of messing around I was finally able to unlock my brand new (as of March 18th, 2007) 6600 red cvs camera. This is basically how it went. First I made the USB cable and it worked perfectly. I used PV2_Quickinstall_0.1 which installed LibUSBwin32 and PV2tool. I actually ended up using PV2 2.19. Used the driver created by libusbwin32 for my camera. Then opened up PV2tool and hit "open." My camera could connect, and it would say "connected," but I couldn't unlock it. Downloaded cronuskey 1.3 to to make a "pv2keys.txt" file, but none of the keys cronuskey made worked. It wouldn't even post the keys used until I hit unlock a few times. Next, headed over to http://snotwad.dyndns.org:8000/puredigital/ and downloaded C2R version 1.2. I then followed the C2R how-to on the link provided, at first to no avail. I realized I had to click unlock a few more times on PV2tool until it listed the keys it was using in the status window. Once PV2tool displays that, then you can use C2R and select the pv2keys.txt file to append to. Once I finally had working keys, unlock worked. what a pain! Here is my pv2keys.txt file. It says my camera uses a new key, so maybe it will help you. It certainly would've helped me. Best wishes!

Thank you for reporting your key but since the appearance of Cronus there is no need to post your key anymore.

Well, there is always a need to post it for old times' sake, or is it old time's sake? BTW, I received my cables from ZAC and they are very nicely made. Lots better than my hacked up printer cable one that I made and used until now. Not only was it ugly, but it didn't always make contact and I had to shim it up by putting some folded up paper in the camera and then the cable. If you want a professionally made cable get the proper connector and a matching color USB cable and solder it up using instructions available all over or take the easy way out and buy it from ZAC or one of the other people selling cables.

ah, no worries then. it is of note though that cronus 1.3 alone was not enough to generate a valid pv2keys.txt file. i had to use C2R as well. i was under the impression that cronus 1.3 by itself would be able to generate a valid key file. i am going to guess that others will have to use C2R as well on newly bought cameras as well.
