On the end of the cassette next to the film slit shutter is a little hole with a little slotted doohicky in it. Use a screwdriver to turn the doohicky and open the shutter. You can then turn the film spool axle to extract/retract the film strip. This also spins the little processing status indicator. Make sure you set it to its proper state after working with the film.
The film strip is permanently attached to the cassette. I would not recommend trying to develop the film yourself. You can probably handle printing just fine. But then who prints in a darkroom any more? Scan the negatives and print on a good photo printer (like and Epson R800). APS scanners are available... check Ebay.
