Attention all people, coming here after watching G4/TechTv! Note 1: Before posting your problem, or asking foolish questions, get the la-*test*-('") version of Ops which is v0.12, NOT v0.4 as G4 very erroneously claims.
Note 2: Pure Digital; the company that makes the CVS camcorder; has patched the camcorder to not let our software work anymore (probably due to G4 making the hacks widely known). If Ops says they keys are the same, that is the problem. There is currently no easy way around it.
Note 3: Before asking question, use the search function to see if anyone else has already covered the problem, few problems are new. If there is a fix, thats how to find it.
G4/TechTV is giving you seriously outdated information, and is not giving credit to the people who made this possible. G4 are not hackers, they are script kiddies.

Perhaps not easy but BillW's la-*test*-('") "reset" method did work for JerodC on a version 3.62:

The screensavers on Tech tv was a good show, sure they could take down a web site in one show due to overwhelming response,(public viewing) but it was something on TV worth watching.
G4 is crap, crap, crap, that's shit to all those in other countries!!!

If I may be so bold... I am not a hacker. I don't have the skillz to be one of the leet. I am just here cause I think it would be a cool project to try. I am sure I will fail sadly, but that is not what matters to me. I am having fun trying.
Anyways, you are all digging into Attack of the Show pretty hard and I am not sure why? You seem mad at them for something and I am not really sure what that thing is. All I can say is yes they are not hackers, but they do not try to be. They try to be script kitties, as you call them, because that is what makes them money.
As an outsider it looks to me like you are all mad at them because things did not turn out how you wanted. They gave credit to the one guy who was on the show (with the night cam I think 3 times now). However, many of the people who care about what you are doing... which might include CVS' legal team... come here and see your names posted everywhere. This is were you get your well deserved credit, not on AOTS were they no longer care about the camera because they got their 10 minutes of TV filler out of you and now they're moving on. You guys obviously wanted to get the word about your ability to hack the cameras out. Well congrats... I live in Toronto Canada, and I know... many people around the world know. I am just sorry it did not turn out the way you all wanted it to.

Problem is people worked very hard to get that recognition, and soem guy copies them with little or no props to the peeps who made it ahppen.

Are you saying that:
- The guy that went on ATOS was not one of you? If so I would say you have the right to be mad, but at the man not the show... unless the guy is an employee of G4. If he is an employee then you have a right to be mad... but they did not introduce him as such.
- Or you do not like the fact that noobs all over the world are hacking these cameras, and you feel it is making what you did less special, so to compensate you want someone to say thank you? If so then I feel you have no right to complain because you started these forums which now perform that duty. However, I would bet $100 that this is not the reason. If it was you would not have set up this forum with all its how to guides, and n00b help. You would have just exchanged what you know via emails or some sort of less public mode of communication.
I am just not sure which you mean. You're answer was very ambiguous. However, like I said before those people do get recognition all the time on these forums... this is it... the people know it was you guys.

-The guy that went on ATOS was not one of you?
The guy on the show, I believe, is a common guy just like one of us.
-They gave credit to the one guy who was on the show (with the night cam I think 3 times now)
The guy on the show took credit only for the night vision project, not the cracking project.
- Or you do not like the fact that noobs all over the world are hacking these cameras, and you feel it is making what you did less special, so to compensate you want someone to say thank you?
They post the outcomes BECAUSE they want noobs to crack these, and for that we should and do say "thank you".
Scenario: At work you take the initiative and come up with a new way to use a company product. You do all the work, and along comes a coworker who shows interest and you show him your project notes. At the conclusion of your project you are so excited that you tell your family and friends about it and they tell you that you are a very smart person. The next day you go into work only to hear your coworker is telling your boss "I figured out this..." and "In conclusion, if you need further information, see my coworker."
Do you think "I got paid for my time here while doing the project, this project is still going to help the company, and besides my family and friends know I came up with the idea and did all the work, so let him have his day in the sun."? I'm guessing "NO" would be your answer. But why are getting upset? Your coworker is still getting the info out there and he is doing all the work of presenting it.

I did say thank you and also thanks for proving me right. You should be directing your anger at the guy who jumped on ATOS and not the show itself.

Just for Newbs' sake, there is now a way to hack all of the cameras except the M510 still camera. The M510 is easily recognized by the M510 on the bottom label of the camera.
Due to obscure threats from somebody at Pure Digital, this method cannot be discussed on these forums, but a simple google search for "cronuskey" will probably be of some help.
