BallBounce for pv2 & FlatFoto 3
http://camerahacks.wikispaces.com/BallBounce BallBounce.pv2 is a program that attempts to draw a bouncing ball on the screen of the pv2 camera. The "ball" is 24 pixels wide and 1 pixel high. It was intended to be 1x1 pixels, but my code was failing to erase the ball's tail after drawing the ball in the next position. You can hit the power button when you get tired of watching it bounce around. Eventually it could be used as the basis for a brick breaking game or a ping pong game or whatever you like. You are free to disassemble it, modify it, and do whatever you like with it. I'm just releasing it in binary form until I get it working better.

PV2 PONG!

I have gotten the ball bouncing nicely without leaving a trail. I have also added code to clear the screen before starting as well as upon pressing and releasing the shutter button. Beeps are made when bouncing off any edge of the screen and can be toggled on and off with the display button. A zip archive including the binary and source are on the wiki. http://camerahacks.wikispaces.com/BallBounce

Now Linux on a PV2 (or camcorder) would be sweeeeet...

Getting Linux on the pv2 will probably not happen till GCC for Arclite is available. I thought there would be more interest in pong or other games on the pv2, but maybe few who read these forums are interested in pushing the hardware to do what it was never intended to except to get an inexpensive OTU camera or camcorder and make it multi-use. Beyond games, I also thought that there would be lots more interest in being able to draw on the screen for other programs now that I have demonstrated that it can be done. Maybe I need release a port of Peter Hirschberg port of Atari's Adventure game to the pv2. or maybe not

oi, that game. only other game that i can think of that was more frustrating was ET. stupid, stupid, stupid. gimme rogue or nethack.

Complete disagreement here. Combat and Adventure were the 2 most enjoyable Atari brand titles on the 2600. Meh, I don't even think E.T. is as bad as people make out. Once you get quick with your levitating finger it isn't all that frustrating.

i liked combat. adventure was frustrating because i had no idea as to what anything did, or where i was supposed to go. just had the cart, no manual. That's too bad. With some brief instructions it's a fun game. the problem i had with et was that i was constantly falling into holes. like, take 3 steps, into a hole you go.That's pretty much why the game is almost universally hated. But if you're quick on the trigger you can avoid falling too deep into the pits, and then it becomes a not-too-bad game. I can't give it more of an endorsement than that. the ones i really liked were megamania, pitfall, pole position, kaboom and keystone capersGranted. The Activision titles ruled the 2600!

Does anyone remember a game for the commodore 64 that was in a magazine and I think involved drilling for oil?

I got BallBounce running on my bootloadered FF3 with a few modifications to the TFT initialization routine and a change to the button code. It looks a little better on the pv2 and the power off or camera reset works better on the pv2 as well. Upon writing $01 to $f715, the FlatFoto screen stays on but the ball stops and then a few seconds pass before the camera shuts down...seems to shut down due to the watchdog.
