cam refuses to be recognised in xp i have the cvs camcorder firmware version 53.05
the screen capture shows info as follows(nerve pinch)
fw-version 53.05
realm id: =20
GFA062100032
PCB VER: DC-6910 A3
does anyone know how to get this cam to be recognized?
step by step would be appreciated please camera cable is wired as follows
(as per instructions) red to pin6 white to pin8 green to pin9 yellow(gnd.) to pin10
if theres a way to enter info into regedit etc. how do u do it and where should it go?
any help would be appreciated oh btw it lists it as an unknown usb device but mass storage device is there also
p.s. if anyones looking for a CHEAP usb cable try dollartree stores they have thier e-circuit line and they have alot of diff. usb cables/configurations to choose from plus i saw a few printer cables too(centronix) only 1 dollar thats what i did but fair warning: all inside wires atleast on my cable(usb) are the same as the instructions on site but the YELLOW is what they used inplace of the black(ground) if i measured it correctly with my cont. meter(it beeped)

If it is coming up as unknown device, then you have a wiring problem or a bad cable. Does the camcorder power on? If so check your data lines are not shorted and they are wired correctly. If they are backwards windows will not recognize it. If you can post a clear pic, it might help too.
PS You posted this in the wrong section. It should go above in the camcorder section.

oh lol sorry about the section
ok with regards to wiring i dont see where it specifies pin1 on the board so i wired it up like this looking at the board from right to left(camera eye or lens facing up) far right is pin1 right or is it left to right and right to left assuming pin 1 is at far right i did red to pin6(+5v) white to pin 8(data-_ green to pin 9(data+) and yellow(gnd) to pin 10 did the same for my pv2 digital cam(red) and same thing usb device not recognized it sees it but cant load the drivers also when i downloaded the one click setup for the camcorder it said it sent the files to camcorder but the new hardware found wizard never starts. when i manually try to place the saturn.inf file in the add hardware it says dosent contain any information for the device. i must be doing this all wrong lol oh btw yes the camcorder powers on and beeps also but just sits there

most of the cables from dollor tree are TRASH, the wires are as thin as hairs... you get what you pay for your best bet for a discounted cable is to get one on sale, clearance, or at big lots
cvscamman1980- 04-06-2007
true there zac (actually i was suprised at these cables bc the wires actually were not hair thin could strip them with my teeth*shhhh lol* and no braeking im just wondering bc since it seems like the cams want to be recognised but they simply state no drivers loaded and ops cannot work id assume if theres no usb driver i dont know if the driver needs manual pasting in the proper directory(s) or reg. keys changed etc.
otherwise it seems like its gonna work lol

Did you take a look at ZAC's "How to unlock" in the camcorder "How To"
section?( I think it will address your problem )(It's not a Sticky so you need to scroll down a little bit)
Good Luck
