How is it powered up? I there voltage present at the usb connector while the camcorder is on?

Pin 4 of the edge connector is connected to the + battery terminal. That and one of the ground pins will give you juice (or allow you to recharge the batteries... forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=10" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=10 )
Nicely done ZAC - ingenious use of the edge connector as an easy source of power and mechanical connection!

Thank you

now that is creative, you should add a small usb connector to the top of it too so it can double as a cable adapter

Now that would be super awesome.
That looks really nice though. Good idea. I like that it is removable and it uses the stock camcorder without any modifications.
Good job on that

and that also looks sweet. let their powers combine!!!

Space is to tight, to combine and get good light, unless one explores other led options. I am using 50k mcd 5mm right now. I have not found brighter yet in 5mm.
carpespasm- 05-06-2006
i was thinking maybe mini-usb connectors and 3mm leds, but i see how even then things would be getting pretty tight in there. still cool stuff

I dont have any mini usb's would like to have some though. I have 80 some odd 3mm ir leds laying around. I guess I will be putting in some to use soon
