Camera Quality
Hi All, Long time lurker, first time posting. First off - A million thanks to you who built this place. I now have 5 unlocked cameras thanks to you! I've read a lot of posts about changing the settings in ops to achieve a longer recording time but with a sacrifice in quality. What about the results from the opposite perspective??? How high can the quality actually get, with a sacrifice in recording time? Before I go and try every possible combination... has anyone figured out the best settings for quality, including recording time? I'm sorry if this has been covered here before - running a search on quality yielded insignificant results on the best settings. cheers

i think i remember somebody saying that the best quality they saw was at 10 minutes recording time and resolution all the way up.

I used the above settings on my Las Vegas trip - m230 53.18 : Tunnel of Light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdi0r2029nk Lake of Dreams: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OTsoQkzfP8 Hoover Dam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsV9Vl4SZSE I usually only get about 3-4 minutes of video before CVS camcorder fills up on those settings.

i use the same setup as brite_eye but ive never gone over 2 full minutes, but i dont think it would hold much more looked WAY better than the lowest bit rate at 30-40 minutes of play...

Just a cautionary reminder for nobody in particular - 640x480 is unstable on some cams. If you try it out and your cam starts crashing, dial down the resolution a bit.

thanks for all the input. I am seeing that 640x480 freeze my m200, but nothing else yet.

mines a m230 with ver 53.05 i think, and it never crashed yet...YET :lol:

here is a time pull i did with my 230 model i had the timelimit on 225 the whole time. what does that actualy do? Cvs camcorder settings 640x480 resolution and 1024 ultra high got 8.5 minutes 640x480 resolution and 512…superhigh (m225 default) got 18:49 640x480 resolution and 384…high got 19 minutes 640x480 resolution and 256…med (rca default) got 30:39 640x480 resolution and 127…low (otu default) got 24.20 576x432 resolution and 512…superhigh (m225 default) got 32 minutes 576x432 resolution and 1024…ultrahigh got 27 minutes i use this chart thing to decide what i should do for best quality for my races. like practice needs les than a heaat race and a heat needs less then a feature. it might be to some use for you guys. http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l39/slinger10/?action=view&current=5308hamlinspeedwayonboardmarksheata.flv heres a vid of what i am using it for

Hold down teh "record" & "delete" buttons while turning teh camcorder, this will give you teh "FW-VERSION". ie 53.18

ok thanks i have the one that is working it is a 53.12 and my new one is 53.18 are the 18 has zoom they both hack teh same right?

i do not know how to do that now so its ok. lol i just use ops and open unlock download then change cam settings nothing else.
