Camerahacking dictionary
I know when I first came here, everything was overwhelming. There are so many things that need to be known, so I decided to make a lil camerahacking dictionary. (PLEASE DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THIS THREAD) p.s. if you don't agree with any of my terms please post, and I have tried to make the terms as easy to understand as possible. Oh and I know that I missed at least 50 words haha so if any one wants me to add a term just tell me the word and I'll make a definition for it. One reason I made this thread was for others to ontribute definitions, so thank you Amyn for your constructive criticism, and I reworded some stuff, but do you see anything I missed? BurningmanThis is the now main program used to get the Responce key from the challenge key, and it can be used for all currently known challenges. Think of it as the KEY MAKER. (He is also a little mystery around this forum, we do not know who he is, and mysteriously vanished after his release of this program.) CamcorderkitXX: Is a Program package that includes OPS (which is used to interface with the camcorders, and Libusb which Contains the drivers and a usb -*test*-('") program.) Challenge: These are the codes that are stored in the camera that need a specific responce to let you access the camera. Think of it as the LOCK Firmware:This is what is on the camera and is what makes it work. keycatch:Is a method of tricking the Pure digital processing station into giving you a code for an unlocked camera/camcorder, by the means of a altered firmware Camera libusb:This is what is used to get the correct file on your computer so you can use OPS when you plug your camera in. Model Number:This can be found on the bottom of the camera, and can be a M200, M220, M230,M225, and rarely M100 ordinal errors:These occur when you click on OPS and it says an ordinal can not be found in the library or some crap like that. To fix it just make sure you are using the correct version of OPS for your libusb. Palm series m100 cable:This is the cable that we plug into the camera, with a usb plug on the other end connecting to the computer Pure Digital Inc:The company that makes the cameras and camcorders Response:These are the codes we send to the camera to be able gain access to it. Think of it as the KEY TO A LOCK. Saturnkeys.txt:This is where we put the challenge and response of the camera to be able to use it. Vulcan Nerve Pinch:This is used to find the find firmware version pcb version, and camera ID, and can be performed by powering the camera on holding the record and delete button. (some credit for these words will be given to nevermore and Amyn for helping me reword things, cleaning stuff up, and adding a couple of words.)

Re: Complete Camerahacking Dictionary!
Let me be the first to just say...please, anyone reading this, do not take these "definitions" seriously. Sorry John, your effort is appreciated, but please, get your facts straight! Your "lil dictionary" isn't going to help anyone; it's just going to make people more confused. Oh and I know that I missed at least 50 words haha Oh, haha, that really makes this a "Complete Camerahacking Dictionary," seeing as you have a whole 12 terms. Let me show you... BurningmanThis is the now main program used to solve newer 09 challenges. (He is also a little mystery around this forum, we do not know who he is, and mysteriously vanished after his release of this program.) BurningMan is the only programs that can solve the newer 09 challenges. Actually, it can do 01-0C, compared to Cronuskey's 01-04. And BurningMan is not a member of this forum. The program is BurningMan, and was released by GuyFawkes CamcorderkitXX: This is used to get the videos off the camera No, CamcorderKit is an installer for the software needed to get the videos off a camcorder. It will install Ops and libusb. Challenge: These are the little that are on the cvs camera, that we use to get into the camera. These are the little what? The challenge is essentially the encryption on the camcorder/camera. From the challenge, a response is generated, almost like a password, by a PD station or one of our programs. Firmware:This is what is on the camera and is what makes it work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware All you really need to know is your camcorder's/camera's firmware version. keycatch:This is used to find the find firmware version pcb version, and camera ID, and can be performed by powering the camera on holding the record and delete button. Not even close. A keycatch is a method in which a PD station is used to retrieve the C/R for a camcorder/camera. This is no longer needed with the releases of Cronuskey and BurningMan. Your definition is for the Vulcan Nerve Pinch libusb:This is what is used to get the correct file on your computer so you can use OPS when you plug your camera in. Libusb is an open source driver for USB devices...It's what is used to create a driver so you can connect to the camcorder/camera. Model Number:This can be found on the bottom of the camera, and can be a M200, M220, M230, and rarely M100 Model of the camcorder/camera...you left out M225 ordinal errors:These occur when you click on OPS and it says an ordinal can not be found in the library or some crap like that. To fix it just update your libusb ...and make sure you're using the correct version of Ops for your version of libusb. I'd clean up that "definition" too... Palm series m100 cable:This is the cable that we plug into the camera, with a usb plug on the other end connecting to the computer ONE of the many different cables/methods that can be used to connect to the camcorders/camera. Puredigital:The company that makes the cameras and camcorders Glad you got that right... Response:These are the codes we send to the camera to be able to get the videos off of it The response to the challenge...it unlocks your camcorder. The significance in this is generating the response Saturnkeys.txt:This is where we put the challenge and response of the camera to be able to use it. This is a file that is created/placed int he same directory as the Ops exe. The C/R is put in this. EDIT: Typo
