In ops, hit format camcorder, then power down, pull the batteries and leave it like that for half an hour. (I think)

I think your making this look too hard.
any program that creates a jpg format image should work.
these 2 images were created from a blank 280x220 image in Micrografx's Picture Publisher v8.0 (Webtricity II):
I had to play with the jpeg compression to get the splash screen to load. The size of the image in relation to the free space on the camera in p4 appears to have little to no effect on whether an image will load or not. I have no idea why some will not load.
p4 writes to 512 byte blocks according to BillW's post. Some of the images that wouldn't load, fit in the same 512 byte range as the one that did.

So is there any way to use ops 9 with image alchamy to change the startup screens?

Same way as the current tutorial, just using OPS 0.9 instead of 0.5 (I've updated the tutorial to reflect the change in version number)
thanks alot now I guess I'll try it without killing my camera

I got the splash screen working fine, however, I cannot get the logo, processed, and shut down screens to work. It will not even accept the origionals. Can anybody help me? If I can't upload my own pictures, I can live with the black made by the 0 byte files..

the best & easyest way to replace files in P4 is to use Ops v0.10 & click on the download flash button, then download P4 (resource C) to your harddrive. use winimage to open the img file. once the image is loaded into WinImage, click on the file pull down menu, then on inject. inject the files you want to use. after the files have been injected, save the image.
Go back to Ops v0.10, click on upload flash, choose P4 (resource c) & upload your new image file. Make sure you close winimage before you atemp to upload the image file to avoid getting a file is use error.

I was having issues with the cam locking up after I tried to replace the sound and image files. Was thinking I was SOL for while there until I read this post. Worked like a champ. Thanks! I'm back in business

Um, does "injecting" the new files delete the ones you want to replace, or did you miss something in your explanation?
