Combo program for CVS camcorders and digital still cameras
I have just completed some changes that incorporated parts of pv2fetch into avidownload. What this means is that there is now a single program you can run which will download from both the camcorders and the digital still cameras. This program runs from the command line, not GUI, but you can make a launcher for it on your desktop. I have it unlocking both cameras and downloading the movies/pictures. In addition, as per avidownload, it allows a command line argument such that the cameras storage will be formatted after download if that is desired. What I have is not original work. It is a melded version of avidownload and pv2fetch. Both of these programs are open source and carry copyrights via the GPL. I only made the changes needed to combine the two and to unlock the digital still camera in a single pass. If anyone would like to continue -*test*-('")ing of this, please reply back!

could you add to it the ability to generate a response from a challenge? To avoid stepping on toes, you could make the base and initialization data be loaded from external files that the user would provide.

could you add to it the ability to generate a response from a challenge? To avoid stepping on toes, you could make the base and initialization data be loaded from external files that the user would provide. If you mean for it to generate the key, no I can't do that - first off I'm not sure of the legalities of that, and second there are already programs that do that. If you provide the key in a file, the program does the unlocking. It will not generate a response from a challenge key, only send one that is in the file. You can search the web for the program that will actually generate the response key for you to include in your file, but I won't mention it by name again because of what I think are legalities. It does, however, follow avidownloads' standard and expects the keys (all of mine for all 3 camcorders and the digital camera) in a single file called .saturnkeys in the home folder for the user. It follows the semi-standard SCCCCRRRR format of these files. All of this pretty much follows what ops, ops-for-linux, pv2tool, pv2tool-linux,pv2fetch and avidownload do. It just "reads" the challenge from the camera, searches the external file for it, and if a match is found is sends back the response from the file. It then downloads the movies/pictures to date/time subfolders within either saturn_vids (for the movies) or pv2_pics (for the digital still camera). For those who may not realize it, this is for Linux only at this time. I am running Ubuntu 7.10 and have no problems. You may have to run as root unless you change the permissions file for how USB devices are mounted to either be wide open (not too smart) or to a group to which you can add users who should be able to access them.

depends on whatever unfolds in regards to this seed data that zapped was referencing. we'll wait to see what happens before including any unlockers.
