honestly, ive never seen a laptop with a difficult to get to get to CMOS battery Try swapping the PRAM battery in a G4 powerbook, then get back to me on that. That is not a design flaw, it is a feature. Just like the non-replaceable battery on the iphone.

It was the battery. What a GREAT PAIN IN THE ASS...The computer was screaming "No disassembly johny 5". But I broke it down. and replaced it. DOMO.

--dances-- domo arigato, do itashi mashite!! lalalalala.... --continues to dance-- oh well, so it wasn't clock skew. i can't be right 100 percent of the time...but i can edit the forums to reflect that percentage! nah, i'm not in a winston smith sort of mood. EDIT: and that is enough random saturn for the day. this is what happens when you don't get much sleep.

Speaking of clocks, I just bought some rubidium oscillators (atomic clocks). Supposed to be accurate to a part in 10^11. Compared them to a cesium beam clock/gps time standard and they are better than 1 in 10^12... works out to 1 second in around 30000 years. Not too shabby for 200 bucks.
