Computer trouble anyone wanna help My date and time is all screwed up i set it, it loses time. would assume it would be the 50hz here but the computer is getting DC voltage not AC. anyone got a clue? I just updated the time date. I will report back after work with the difference in time date.
Thanks

That's the problem with going near the speed of light. Time slows down and mass increases. I'd increase the voltage on the flux capacitor to compensate.

If it's not a new PC you probably need to replace the battery on the motherboard. This is what powers the clock when the PC is off, and when it provides insufficient voltage the clock runs slower.
Or if the box is internet connected just run an NTP client to fix the time for you.

I agree with billw - usually a CR2032 OR CR2036 battery.

is it clock skew/clock drift? or clock loss (jan 1 1970)? does this happen when it's on, or when it's been shut off for more than 5 minutes?

I am betting on the battery. How old is the computer? Did you keep it in the cabin with you on the flight over or was it in the luggage hold? If it was in with the luggage and it was an old battery to begin with, the drop in air pressure and temp., then beging heated back up might have been enough to make the battery die/leak.

Local time/date 8:48 PM. The computer clock is reading 9:47 AM the comuter was shut down today. I guess I will attempt to disassimble jonny 5 and replace the battery. I will report back when I have done it.

...assuming this is a windows xp machine, do you have the timezone set correctly in your settings? it will go and reconfigure itself via NTP...to what the time should be in relation to your timezone settings. account in for daylight savings existing for us, but not for japan...that might be the problem.
doesn't hurt to check...

With a skew that big and the minutes so close, I'm thinking that Nights may just be right about a timezone screw-up.
Fix the time in the bios, save, turn the computer off without going to the OS. Wait some hours. Turn it on and check it in the bios. If it's right, let it boot through to the OS - if it screws up after that, it's an OS issue.

now my computer says it is 9:38 am yesterday (Accual time 5:44 AM) and I have not turned it off since last time i posted. Weird shit happening.

Are you running JBidWatcher or some other Java program? Have you installed any software lately?
When you open Date and Time Properties, does the second hand appear to tick once per second, or is it noticeably retarded?

6:20 am (actual time 4:30 pm) I have installed many things lately, but I do recall the time doing weird things for a while. I dont use this computer except for log periods of travel or if i need gps. When I look at the clock it appears to run normal. Its like when the computer is hibernating /in stand by the clock does not work.

DAMN IT...it did not work for long. Fuck it who needs the correct time.

Is your computer significantly closer to a black hole than you are? Have you experienced unusual chronoton bursts? Have you tried reversing the polarity of the deflector dish and changing the shield frequency to match the anomaly's frequency?
If it's a Windows PC, get a hold of atom time... IIRC the older 95 version is free and runs just fine on newer versions of Windows.
If it's Linux or BSD you'll need to play a bit. Ntpd won't deal well with clock skews that large.
