CVS Red Model 410 6600 firmware - initialization?
I have incorporated most of pv2fetch with avidownload for Linux. I am able to process the camcorders fine. Small problem when working with the digital camera: 1st run always acts like it is failing in communications with the camera. Run the program a 2nd time right away and everything works. I remember seeing notes in the code that the pv2 digital camera doesn't like being closed, so the code uses a reset instead at the end of the run. I found a close in the open routines (close the device 1st before opening), and made it dependent on the device type - so it doesn't do the close on the camera in the open routines. Still the same result. I also tried adding (dependent on the device being the camera) a reset, timing loop to pause, re-init and re-open but that didn't do anything either. I have tried unplugging/"re-plugging" the camera before the run - same result. I have tried unplugging, powering the camera on and off, then "re-plugging" - same result. It would appear the camera just doesn't want to take any commands on the 1st run, but works on an immediately following run. It never works 2 times in a row - there is always a failure between successes. Does anyone know if the camera requires some sort of special command before it will "take" normal and bulk mode commands? I've looked through the USB command list on maushammer's site, but don't see such a thing mentioned (except of course the unlocking dialog prior to anything else). Help?? :D Thanks in advance! Dave EDIT: should mention this is all in Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (Gutsy).

Okay, I now have a version of avidownload combined with pieces of pv2fetch with the end result being you can use the same program to download from the video camera and the digital still camera. In addition, the problem with needing to run 2 times for the digital still camera has been worked around, so now for either camera you only need to run once. This combined program runs from the command line so it is not a GUI'd application at this time. However, you can set up a launcher on your desktop for it so you don't have to manually open terminal. If anyone would like to continue -*test*-('")ing of this, please reply back.
