I just used FF2 and inrfanview processing as standard color photo. I need to try loading as a B&W raw and see if that makes any difference; however without a detailed understanding of header fields it is normally very difficult to match quality of SMaL software processing. Many of my shots were badly washed out - so I can probably try a darker less grainy ND filter than black film.

I took a couple side by side comparisons at work today of Hard Rock Cafe (Part of Compuware Building), and Campus Martius Park from 15th floor balcony of Compuware Building. Local bands have been playing on stage in park during lunch every day from 11:30 to 1:30.
Plant life seems to reflect short IR much more than humans or manmade objects.

may i ask a couple questions
what did you use to polish off lens with
and i was able to take the protective glass off the image sensor(practing on a trashed camera) but it shatterd in the process, is there a way to remove it intact? and other websites about camera IR modding mention nothing about debayering but are able to produce IR (so they say) looking photos.

To remove IR filter off lens - I used car polishing compound No 7 and rubbed for over 10 minutes.

The bayer layer will not prevent success - others have posted IR examples on these forums with bayer still intact. Bayer being gone will allow more light to reach sensor. I had removed bayer layer for other reasons (increased resolution and autobrite -*test*-('")ing). For more detail on my bayer layer removal process: Bayer Begone
It takes me about 20 minutes to remove protective glass cover - carefully using a very thin sharp xacto style blade.
