How to explode an Alkaline battery Stupidity is dangerous! :oops: When I first started using my ebay charging cable, I only used it with rechargeable batteries or after removing batteries. For quite a while I have been lazy and using the charging cable with normal alkaline batteries. I just saw a flash on my 220 while moving a physical block of flash. When I unplugged it something dripped on to my hand. One of the batteries was leaking and very hot. :oops: Luckily my 220 is still working.

I've never been able to blow up an alkaline, but I did get a spectacular release once. They can reach amazing pressures when charging. I once removed that spot welded pressure cover off a AA and saw the skiny cathode rod nail the wall across the room. It vented its nasty gray guts too. I'd say it was far more pressure than a dry ice bomb.
