You don't have to unlock patch the firmware, since you did that prior to saving the firmware. If you're using pv2tool 2.14, you can just hit the "change PID" button and choose the "flatfoto 2" entry, assuming you have that driver. The camera will be a new USB device after that. If you unplug/replug, Windows should ask for drivers. Just point it at the ff2 ones and you're set. If you need to connect with pv2tool in the future, you'll need to make sure libusb recognizes the new PID, and you'll need to swap the drivers from ff2 to the libusb ones from the Windows Device Manager.

I just downloaded your la-*test*-('") v2.14 TOOL you're amazing dude (Mr. Dude SIR) Thanks for all your help with this, I now have a 2MP Reusable Digital Camera for $7.58 (with the coupons I had) I read from one of the HowTo sites (the one I listed before) that the RadioShack driver on their Site won't work, and you have to get the CD from them, but I searched on the RadioShack webpage for the part # of the CD with the proper drivers and couldn't find it. IS it still available, or can I indeed use the FlatPhoto 2 driver, on their site? (anyone have the CD to upload) :P  :D

Arghh another page added to my topic, mostly unrelated lengthy logs. When I get around to it I probably should repost with a lock - but still hoping someone comes up with a better method such as response key generator algorithm. Note that you only have a 1.1 mp camera (Pure digital cut some off the bottom of 1.3 to make room for pictures remaining message). You need a typeid 30 instead of 2B for a 2mp imager - but then you need nonexistant modified firmware to run it a 2mp.

eye, split the prattle off into it's own topic to clean up. It's pretty quick and easy - I do it for my own Ops release thread when the talk goes elsewhere. Also, I'd suggest you add a "if you don't keep the batteries in, dont bother asking for help" disclaimer too. (sorry shootME, but the batteries-out problems come up waaaay too often) shootME, the Radio Shack Windows drivers are useless. They don't contain the actual twain32 code that does the RAW->JPG conversion. If you have a Mac, those Radio Shack drivers actually work. Otherwise you can take a look at using some of the RAW conversion softwares. Or order the RS FF2 CD. Your choice.

Thanks BillW, I decided to order the RadioShack Driver CD, just got off the phone with them now. It also has the routine to download the pix's to the hard drive as well. sorry for all this other "Prattle" :D   but i didn't know where else to put it, or who to ask, ... being we were all "on the same page" so-to-speak :P  Now, to wait for the Digital CamCorder to go on special sale, or, just save up some more coupons ... hehehe... ! BTW-the TOOL said (if you remember) that the Keys Found were new, and never used before. Should I post them to the spot mentioned earlier in this thread? http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=201

brite_eye- 09-02-2005

Yes, but please only post the one key that worked.

shootME- 09-02-2005

I followed a suggestion in one of your posts regarding using two separate USB ports, each with one of the different drivers, and it works great. I didn't have to change the PID of the camera. Instead , i just modified the RadioShack smaluslx.inf file as follows; (the Green TEXT was what I added) ... at the section with ... ; This is the list of devices that we are talking about. %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0025.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0025 MY_Multi-USE_Digital_Camera=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0027 %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0029.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0029 %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002A.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002A %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002C.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002C %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002D.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002D %USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0040.DeviceDesc%=SMALUSB.Dev, USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0040 and at ... MfgName="OEM" SMALUSB.SvcDesc="Digital Camera Driver" DISK1=1 EMPTY=" " UPMP_CLSID={C5D1F2B5-F972-44c4-A2FB-BB8A443ADABC} USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0025.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0027.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0029.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002A.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002C.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_002D.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" USB\VID_0DCA&PID_0040.DeviceDesc="Digital Camera" Now, i can have my cake and eat it too ... the RadioShack Driver (from the Original Driver CD) works with my 0027 camera, as a TWAIN32 Device, and by switching to the other USB port, I can still delete the Images from the camera using the LIBUSB driver and the TOOL. Too bad the camera can't be modified to allow the RadioShack Driver to delete the pictures, it would make things even more easier. :D

Legal processed camera hack?
Do any of you know a way of hacking a processed camera without using a patched firmware.pv2 upload? The only way I could get it to work was to was to use the old method of: 1.Removing the LCD and plastic by removing one screw, undoing the compression holder rotating out of the way to expose Samsung chip 2.Shorting 6&7 (or is it 7 & 88) on the upper left counting down while turning on the camera to give 3 beeps 3. plug USB in to give 3 beeps. 4. Open 5. Run patched firmware.pv2 (did 6550 2b in a processed 6550 2b and also 6520 2b in a processed 6520 30) both worked. 6. Open 7. Sdram keyscan button in PVTools2.13 8. Keys found 9. Unplug, plug, open, unlock :D 10. download flash 11. unlock firmware 12. Unplug camera Note that the camera is still saying processed at this point. 13 remove batteries 14 plug camera 15. Open 16 get directory 17. upload NVRAM.dat from unprocessed camera. 18. unplug processing gone! Now just Camera Full Screen. Completely usable (although needed to format or erase the old pics to completely enable (could do earlier)). This is just the accumulation of a lot of threads of work of others that worked twice for me on two different cameras (but had to search a lot of threads for it). But I was wondering if anybody knew a way to do it without needing the firmware already. The Legal hack will not work on a processed camera since there is no way to take pictures or delete them. (I did try numerous times but no luck and it worked on all 3 camera that were virgin so I know I was doing it right (minus the2 picture and delete).

shootME wrote Too bad the camera can't be modified to allow the RadioShack Driver to delete the pictures, it would make things even more easier. I routinely can delete pictures using irfanview with FF2 SMaL drivers. Are you sure your not selecting wia driver instead of twain?

shootME- 09-03-2005

I routinely can delete pictures using irfanview with FF2 SMaL drivers. Are you sure your not selecting wia driver instead of twain? I'll have to see about that again, I'm not using irfanview. I'm using the acquire option in Corel Photo-Paint 11, and I also used the built-in WinXP OS's Scanners & Camera capture routine... . . . I just looked in the Acquire Image/Select Source of Corel Photo-Paint 11 and saw the TWAIN32 driver source of Digital Camera 1.603 (32-32) and it deletes the Pix's now Silly ME ... I was using the WIA driver that the .inf file creates instead    This just keeps getting better and better .. I also replaced most of the original TFT's with the Spiderman collection ... I can't stop smiling ... it's like i slept with a hanger in my mouth ... hehehe ... :D :P  Thanks DUDE!! for pointing that out to me. BTW- I recently looked up the patent # for this camera, shown in the original SPLASH.TFT (patent# 6,600,471) and copied it to a PDF file. (With Graphics) would you care to see it. I don't know if it will show you any more than what you already know, but ya never know what little tid-bit it may show.

All of Keith Fife's patents as of a few months ago are listed in Links: forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=1341#1341" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=1341#1341 Let me know if that needs to be updated.

shootME- 09-03-2005

Well ... well ... well ... Silly ME :!: :!: :!: ...   You seem to have them ALL and ones I didn't even know about. :P :!: :D I noticed they linked to just a TEXT VIEWing section... I can click on the IMAGE button at the top to view all the GRAPHICS too, and then convert it into a PDF file so anyone can read both the Picture & Text info if they don't have the special Plug-in called InterneTIFF for their Browser. Would you like them ALL converted to PDF's :?:  Silly ME again :!: ... he probably has that too, already ... :!:

brite_eye- 09-03-2005

If it is legal - but I believe US Patent office doesn't allow posting copies. Check on the law, get back, and if it is legal - we'll post links to your conversions. Although first explain why the PDFs would be better.
