well, there's three things here. from the fink package database, here's the libusb version for intel: "10.4/intel 0.1.8-1014 (bindist 0.8.1)", so you should be able to have an intel native build of libusb.
the other thing is http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/ supposedly holds a universal binary package of libusb for tiger
and here's the last: http://kevin.sb.org/articles/2006/02/14/quick-tip-using-rosetta-from-the-command-line talks about launching rosetta with any app from the commandline.
hopefully this helps...i won't be able to help further with that platform until hopefully friday.

thanks for the links... i've been looking for that libusb for tiger
SaturnNiGHTS- 11-02-2006
yep, no problem...
...did my post <2 posts ago> help the original party ?
koikoi- 11-28-2006
bbf: Yes, there was a byte-swapping issue with the key if it was read in from saturnkeys.txt. It's fixed in my tree now and should make the next update. Let me know if you still want the source, I'll also be posting it to the website whenever I do the next update.
Cerebus: When launched from the Dock or from an alias, the cwd is / instead of wherever the app lives. I haven't decided how to handle this yet. Symlinking /saturnkeys.txt to wherever the actual file is might work.
Offtopic for this thread and about a year late, one interesting idea that occurred to me is putting Ops-for-linux in a VM. This would eliminate driver setup problems and also allow more people to use one program, allowing for less parallel work. If you used something like Knoppix's persistent disks, it wouldn't need to be too big either - probably in the tens of megs. I think (without having tried it) that VMware will handle USB properly for this idea; not sure if other virtualization products will. Disadvantages to this idea are: AFAIK, ops-for-linux lags Ops badly; some people (e.g. PPC Mac) would still be left out.
needone- 11-29-2006
Yeah, I'm still on a PPC Mac :( No virtualization for me.
But wouldn't emulating Linux seriously cripple transfer speeds for Windoze users?
koikoi- 11-29-2006
Not necessarily, though perhaps it's nontrivial. Windows proves it's *possible* to force high speed transfers, so certainly someone could hack the Linux USB drivers in the VM to always do high speed. Or maybe it's possible from userspace and people just haven't looked at it enough.
Alternately, a Linux/Mac user might be able to use Windows to get higher speeds (depends on how low-level the USB emulation is - hmm, now I want to try it).
koikoi- 11-29-2006
Sadly, no (repeatable) success in a Windows XP VM. I can see and unlock the camcorder, but can't get a directory listing or download movies (reliably, anyway - I was able to download movies once and it was pretty snappy). The camcorder and cable were fine because I then checked them with PureTool.
This is not completely conclusive, since I'm using a prerelease version of ******, but not worth further time at this point.
koikoi- 12-02-2006
New version 2006.12.02
Changes:
- Added camcorder speed indicator on main tab
- Added log view
- Fixed incorrect path while downloading an arbitrary file
- Fixed bug where newer cams with the reset key required an entry in saturnkeys.txt to authenticate
- Fixed partition 0 downloads on newer camcorders
- Fixed bug where saturnkeys.txt was not found if PureTool was launched from Finder
- Fixed endianness bug while authenticating from saturnkeys.txt to camcorder

video1: bump the log level up to Debug, it'll tell you where it's looking for the file.

Yay go koikoi! I'll try out the new build when I can find my M230...

Mac PureTool app works great, thanks! koikoi --
I've been away from this site for a long time, and had thus missed your posting of the 2 December 06 version of PureTool. In the meantime--in addition to my G5 iMac w/OS 10.4.8--I'd been holding onto an old Mac running OS 10.3.x, just so I could continue to run an earlier version of PureTool.
But now I've d/l'd and used your la-*test*-('") version, and it works just great. Thanks very much!

Is PureTool available anywhere? Better yet, is the source code for PureTool available anywhere?
