Model 410 with 08 Challenge
08 challenge problem right so as ZAC and bright-eye have said the new FW 6600 "Legal single camera method" works with the 08 challenge. I have tryed this method several times. After I plug the usb back in I have gotten all the beeps (including 1 beep) but no matter what when I click open again is says: Camera USB device closed. Error: Found the camera, but could not open it. Error: Could not find camera. Error: Could not find camera. I close my pv2tools unplug and replug my usb and it seems to go back to normal. I can open the camera from pv2tools again but i still cant unlock it. any ideas? ~Things that might help. the cable is solidered to the physical pins. creates a connection every time. Model 410 FW-6600 HW-06 Type ID-2B ChipTypeID-2B Realm ID-20 ~changed the batteries. and took a picture and deleted it, as suggested. 08 4D EB CF 1B C2 D7 66 82 46 5D E0 2B 3E DB 76 80 3C 2B E4 5B 81 1D 0F 1B C1 24 EA F6 26 4F 9A 91 97 7B D9 CD 39 C8 98 E4 36 49 E8 B6 BE 00 1A 5D 4C 09 25 07 2B 15 49 05 38 1A F2 1F E9 49 DF 2B 8E 41 83 DE D7 82 AC E1 97 24 62 27 C7 C9 12 7F CE D0 EC 65 00 CB 89 1E 64 33 D1 04 BA 5B 1C 1E BC A3 97 F3 A5 EE EA A0 F0 56 17 29 62 1E A5 0D 4A E7 FF 1D 08 27 17 8D CC D8 4E 4C A0 6D 98 ~If someone can convert that and get is back to me I can see if thats the problem. ~To wrap up, I know that this stuff is not i fine science (yet) and that you need to improv sometimes but if you could give me a little direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. While we can't supply you an image for copyright reasons, if you had a patched firmware image from another camera, you could bypass all of that unlocking, and just rewrite the troublesome file. Were you to have such an image, you would just drop the camera into bootloader mode by shorting a couple of address lines on the SDRAM chip while powering up. When you get the three beeps, you would connect to the bootloader via USB, upload your patched firmware, reconnect to the patched kernel via USB, and erase the NVRAM.DAT file from the root directory. The next time you power the camera on, it would detect that the NVRAM.DAT file was missing, and recreate it with the "reset" key. I'm not surprised PD used the new 08/09 challenges for the PV2's, but it was really kind of a waste.

thanks a lot im going to look around for some firmware and try that. idk if I can get my camera into bootloader mode. or if i fully understand what that mode is. I believe it is the mod the camera goes into to remove the pictures. I also think that is when PV2tool changes the PID to 2b (in my case). if that is so then i cant seem to get pv2tools to display the PID as 2b its always 27. for your method radarman what software do you use to change the firmware. thanks again.

Keep tring the legal method until you seceed or it goes into bootloader mode (it wont turn on it only beeps three times)

I agree on trying the legal method first. However; failing that, you can always fall back to the slightly illegal method. Note - bootloader mode has a different ID than the normal mode. So, if you are seeing 27, then you are in bootloader mode. You simply need to add that to your libusb file to get the driver to attach. From there, you can connect with pv2tool.

08 challenge
If you have a firmware image you can open with pv2tool and upload the new image to your cam. Run pv2 code the open again and upload your flash image.

bootloader Question

I have an unlocked 6600 camera as well. I was out and needed a camera purchased a new one which is also a 6600. I was wondering if the camera can be put into the bootloader mode without opening it. My other camera was empty when I messed with it. This new one has some pics on it that I would prefer to keep, it sounds like it would be easier to upload the firmware from the other cam then to use the single camera method. Thanks for any help you guys are all great! :D
