Movie reencoding software(sizing) aplication?
Hi, i was wondering if there is any new or good software that could use for changing multiple movie formats into the camcorders file format so i could be able to play tv series or movies on my camcorder, i have bought the Xilisoft Video Converter a while ago as wel as mencoder (usualy i did 1 or 2 passes), I still have an oldie PC with a P4 1.7 gig procesor and 512 Mb's of RAM, so I gues my "slowness" lies there, but i was wondering if there are any good/reliable/and relatively fast programs that would do this for me? So I would be able to set the output file type, ans size needed so that the camcorder would recognize it. Thank You for any coments, and thoughts.

Usually my bread and butter is Mencoder. As you mention it's a bit slow, but it does the job. Unfortunately I don't really know any other encoders very well. I used tmpgenc in the past, but it's not any faster than mencoder. Sorry to not be more helpful!

THX for the info, its just that i have not been in the forums for a while( I think for about 4 months or so...just the lack of time was teh cause) so i thought that maby some new apps were developed in the meantime, and to be honest i thought that my slow pc was the reason why the conversion took so long. P.S. I was just curious how are the cams nowedays? will there be any chance of geting into them as the 3.4 were? or is the end of cam hacks near? Thank You for the reply.

there are still a few 3.4 and 3.62 cams that seem to pop up from time to time, but that's by far the exception to the rule. the hacks havn't dried up, it's just gotten to the point where the skill level needed to get into the camera the first time is can be very difficult for those without good small part soldering skills

ffmpeg is pretty fast. i am working on an ffmpeg script for CVS Video in and iPod out, so reversing that should work pretty well when im done

Why not just Virtualdub? simple, essential, gets the job done, can do nth pass encoding, a lot of filters and lightweight. The next step would be avisynth...
