My camcorder died? Well I was just trying to get my cvs camcorder to work as a webcam today and while I was in webcam mode I accidentally pressed record. The screen froze up and now it won't turn on! The PC still sees something plug into it but nothing works now. So did I destroy the camera? Any way to fix it or is it gone? thanks.

Do you get any green flashes across the screen during initial power on?

Well it doesn't power on at all anymore. I guess I probably bricked it. Oh well it worked for a while.

Try leaving out the batteries overnight and trying fresh ones.

Hey thanks, left the batteries out all day today and then put in some fresh ones and it turned back on! Any tips on how to get the camera to work as a webcam? I was trying to use the switchcam program but I couldn't get it to work.

what OS are you on?
if its vista, you have to right click / run as admin, or you`ll get an error.

I have xp sp2. It recognizes the camera as the dv 6800(video) but no software recognizes video from it?
Edit: Everything seems to be connected but I only get a black screen and no video.

If you have a 53.14 the easiest solution is to apply the permanent unlock; otherwise you need to unlock it using libusb and OPS then reboot keeping it connected and use the 6800 driver. I used to use two instances of XP on the same drive, but I believe someone created a switch program that should also work.
