My Experience
I'm finally watching videos from my CVS camera! I got it all done in one evening, but it was a bit of work. I also found out that I suck at soldering, actually I've only done it a couple of times before, but it worked, ugly though. My camcorder is a model 230, revision 53.14 from CVS Pharmacy. And just for reference I'm running Windows XP 32bit SP2. My first roadblock was a driver for the camera. Version 21 of the CamcorderKit did not include a .inf file. This drove me nuts for a while. Also the One-ClickSetup didn't work for me either. So I went back a step to Version 20 and it did include a saturn.inf. Problem with 20 though, it would not give me the challenge phrase needed to unlock the camera. So now that Windows knew what the camera was, I uninstalled 20 and reinstalled 21. Now I could see the phrase. My challenge phrase was an 09 phrase, so I needed Burningman. The basic command line Burningman didn't produce a working response, although everyone should run it to read the little message about Guy Fawkes. So I found Burningman GUI, it worked great and gave me a working response phrase. So I have the camera unlocked now and my files downloaded. Doh, no sound. The newest version of Divx told me I needed a DirectShow Decoder. I found MpegDecoder012.msi and installed it. Still no sound. The only fix for no sound was to use the converter that comes with Divx and convert the files into .divx format. Fine for now, but eventually I'll want to convert these into a format that will work for the web. This has been interesting work, but fun. This camera will be going into a rocket. If I can figure out my sound issue, I'll convert some vids into a good web format and upload some. Also, Windows Media Player 11 will play the videos, but still no audio for me. Thanks a ton for the forum it helped plenty. David Barkman

--claps happily-- i am so thrilled that someone with the drive to get something done, combined with the skill to read, has been able to acheive on their own! seriously dude, congrats. many have failed at the reading part. try using virtualdub. it allows you to convert to essnetially whatever format you want. except it will complain that you only have directshow codecs. so i would recommend getting the xvid codec pack, install that , which should work with virtualdub. if that fails, get the storm codec pack.

I convert my media files with Super or EMX Movie converter. Downloading super was diffuclult becasue of their confusing website, many different disclaimers and junk typed in red really confuses you. I can convert into almost any file format and both come with the nessecary codecs
