Interesting... definitely a new game. :-)

Not much there, but the image processing sequence on this page is pretty cool: http://rumbledev.com/ImageProcessing.htm

IMHO this thread creates a greater liability risk for Admins of this forum than easy key-catch 4 all. It publically presents illegally obtained information that may in the long run be far more damaging to Pure Digital. My key-catch requires one time individual accesses with limited intent to obtain a key to process copyrighted videos they own. Detailed pictures of cradle board probably violates trade secret law with far greater consequences than potential "fraud by omission" between an individual and a photo-tech.
Bollocks... What is this, guilty until proven innocent?
I was given a number of boards and I wasn't told that I couldn't do anything with em... on my own time I took the pictures. If it's a trade secret then they should have guarded it a bit better.
For the record I'm not employed by Pure Digital but I'd rather not say more... it wouldn't be illegal, just uncomfortable.
Don't worry about it. Unless you obtained the dock through questionable means, there is nothing wrong with photographing it, describing the components, and even electrical analysis.
This isn't a trade secret problem, and even if it was, unless you were in a privileged position to learn them (and be responsible for protecting them) it wouldn't matter. So, since you aren't a PD employee, you should have little to worry about.

Looking at the 2nd picture (from left to right) I see data lines at positions 1,2,3,4 and 5 I see a 5V at position 6 and I see a ground plane connected to 7 and 10.
It's probably worthwhile to repeat GotAnMP3's M510 camera multimeter information originally from forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=27155#27155>this post:1: +3.268v

This thread is about to go out with a wimper, which would be a real shame.
Anyone with a 510 willing to explore this further ?
BillW- 07-09-2006
I think it's mostly because the m510 cams don't appear to be in wide release yet. I'm sure when more of these cams get in the right hands we'll see more action.
radarman- 07-10-2006
Wow - if anyone really wants one, the store nearest to me has dozens of them. Sadly, only four 410's left - which I'm hoping will still be there when they go on sale.

Hide them.

Can't we contact fawkes and maybe purchase a cradle?
CamCam- 10-08-2006
Why? Unless they change the camcorders to that same system, it is worthless. The new m510 has already been shown to be a cheap piece of crap. To date, it is the only model that uses the new connection of the cradle.
bobbarker- 10-08-2006
M510s aren't even really out yet. I've not seen one in my stores yet. Still good ol' PV2s.
CamCam- 10-08-2006
I have only seen 1. After processing, it appears dead, it will not turn back on until it is reset somehow.
Amyn- 10-08-2006
Well, at least we could get an insert on hold or something from him. If it does turn out the camcorders will have this, we would want to have a station to look at...
CamCam- 10-08-2006
I personally think that if the camcorders go that direction, PD will suffer. Not because of us buying up their stock, but because of the likelyhood of a poor quality camcorder. It will also not likely make use of the Zoran chip anymore. Afterall, the camcorder is definately the better of the single use products that PD offers.
Back your comment, no it wouldn't hurt to have a cradle to study. But it will not likely happen because it was a specialty item intended for PD only. Resaling one to the public would probably be like selling trade secrets.
bobbarker- 10-08-2006
I doubt their camcorders will go to bad quallity. They save a bundle in developement by using their OTU designs with their reusable ones.
Same can't be said about their still cams though...
CamCam- 10-08-2006
That is why I'm not to sure the interface will change. If it were to change, the hardware would likley be cheap judging on what they have done in the m510's.
