NVRAM.DAT and .raw image file names/numbers Interesting observations...
I have two 6600/2B/PID:27 cams and was attempting to assign a different naming sequence to the raws so I could tell which pic came from which camera... cam#1 would start naming at \\"Img_0001.raw\\" and #2 would start at \\"Img_1000.raw\\".
If I uploaded Img_0999.raw to an empty camera, and then took a picture, the next raw was named Img_1000.raw, exactly what I wanted. Subsequent pics incremented to Img_1001.raw, Img_1002.raw, etc.
Uploading Img_0000.raw reset the picture counter so that the next image was named Img_0001.raw, but the 0000 image would not preview on the camera, nor could it be deleted from the camera's menus (it could be deleted with PV2tool 2.19).
I kept playing to see if there was a hard upper limit, or if the counter would roll over after Img_9999.raw. It did not. Regardless of what I did, including uploading Img_0001.raw, the cam kept saying \\"camera full\\" and would not take any more pictures (with only one raw stored).
At this point I figured I would need to flash an image, or at least a firmware, so I played a bit more... I found that if I deleted NVRAM.DAT, it was recreated the next time I turned the camera on, fully capable of taking pictures again, and the image names began with Img_0001.raw again.
In short:
Make sure you have a good flash image before playing with this...
The camera will recreate NVRAM.DAT if it is missing. If you wish to reset the naming of the pictures to Img_0001.raw, this is an easy way to do so.
To specify a starting image number, simply upload Img_xxxx.raw (where xxxx in one less than the number you want). If you're using 6600 firmware, use the 'delete any pic' feature to get rid of the uploaded image after you take a pic.
