I'm having a frustration problem. I can connect to the camera, unlock it, and list the directory. Then I can "download last video" and it shows progress, BUT the file never shows up where i pointed it to.
This might be related:
(ops-linux:9279): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_get_uri_from_local_path: assertion `g_path_is_absolute (local_full_path)' failed
Success retrieving file
Success retrieving data file.
if you are saving to desktop, it might be in the root desktop and not the user desktop

I'm on NetBSD 2.0.2, and can get Ops to compile by changing this section in ops-linux.h from:
#elif defined(__APPLE__) && defined(__MACH__)
#include <machine/endian.h>
#else
#include <endian.h>
#endif
to:
#elif defined(__APPLE__) && defined(__MACH__)
#include <machine/endian.h>
#elif defined(__NetBSD__)
#include <sys/endian.h>
#else
#include <endian.h>
#endif
The necessary packages are devel/libusb and devel/gnome-common. (This worked for me anyway.)
After that it compiles fine, and appears to run ok. I haven't been able to -*test*-('") it with the camcorder yet because we accidentally wired the usb plug on wrong. Oops.

cool, thanks for the information!

Has any work been done on Ops-for-linux lately?
I grabbed the CVS from sourceforge, and found that a lot of it is out of date compared to the current Ops-for windows. I updated the unlock_camcorder.c functions such that Ops-for-linux is able to read from a saturnkeys.txt file, and I'm working on putting cronus into the source as well.
How should I publish this work? Is anyone maintaining the current CVS? I know interest in the CVS cameras dropped awhile ago, but with the new hack things are picking up and I'd be willing to help out with the linux and OS X source code.

You may want to consider leaving the keygen out, unless you like lawyers.

Do it, man. Maybe we need to take up a collection, call the EFF, or distribute it via I2p, but we shouldn't take this.
mconbere- 07-25-2006
Are we really very worried about lawyers, given that the cronus source is freely available at the same website I grabbed the ops-for-linux code?
Is there a decided community stance yet? The last I heard they were just looking at finalizing the code before moving it into Ops.

I don't think we should be so negative towards Pure Digital, they came on in a civil manner and I'd like to hear a response from them.

The decided community stance is that we don't want to have our forum pulled out from underneath us, or worse, get dragged into court.
A server misconfiguration at PureDigital lead to an inadvertant public publishing of some of their software. While clean room reverse engineering is technically legal, even the GPL proves that being freely allowed to download software (from PD's FTP) doesn't automatically mean you have the rights to do something the software's licence doesn't allow. In a nutshell, if PureDigital really wanted to, they could make some peoples' lives very frustrating. :(

The \"community stance\" is that you can do what you like, just not here. Something about getting sued into the stone-age troubles us for some reason...
However, the app is GPL; and if you have a copy, you are more than welcome to use it. Heck, you can even distribute it. However, you do so at your own risk.
We would prefer that links to CronusKey derivatives not be posted here for the time being.

Here is the new Ops-For-Linux (hope my little powermac server can handle it!)
If anyone wishes to mirror, be my guest.
NOTE: I am simply hosting, this is not my work (although I wish it were!)
