newest debian package.
the makefile had to be edited to remove the man page, which is not included and i did not bother to make. The symlink to g++ was also needed to be removed from the package, it still installs though.

you need to install
libglademm-2.4.so.1
search for the proper package using apt-get
apt-cache search libglademm-2.4

more dependancy problems i.e. libcairomm and xandros networks (their less than free package mangment system) cant locate the libcairo library --thats kinda lame -- im gonna reeboot to my Gnewsense partition and try it all over --- thank you enigma both for the work on the linux side of things and for getting out the crayolas and writing it out on the big board for the kids (ME) to understand

might i suggest not using xandros? and i'm serious about this...highly lacking in real package management.

my wifes in the middle of a crucial project and shes comfortable with
xandros and the crossover applications suite so i cant really risk rebooting right now im unfamiliar with this distro
i usually run gnewsense(free as in free) but ive got "etch" , "xubuntu",and "gentoo" on this box.. i got this xandros disc out of a magazine so i put it in my sandbox partiton to check it out. it has some good features ie easy interface to configure WINE for the wife and it configures hardware about as good as knoppix but ive had problems installing .debs and it also calls home - it says so in the non free EULA
im pretty noobish when it comes to development but, libcairo is so common that i could not even really believe that xandros networks
did not even offer a .deb or .rpm or even a .yum wtf !! you are right it is lame

Try xubuntu when you get time. I am most comfortable in am _true_ debian base, etch would be fine as well (although I use ubuntu over debian). gentoo does not have debs, so we would have to do a different way of installing.
on your idea of the WINE in xandros, I agree, crossover is very good. It can be had on other flavors of linux though. There are debs of crossover floating around the bay if you catch my drift.
as for rebooting, "shutdown -r now" tell her it was a power outage

yeah, i'm a debian purist...i run a mix of -*test*-('")ing and unstable ...and i just love getting the stuff running on normal wine. people are like "omfg, is that WoW?" yeah. "did you have to buy cedega?" pssh, no.

I had the ops: error while loading shared libraries: libglademm-2.4.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
.1:
I did apt-get for the version that showed in apt-cache, now I get this error:
dave@dave-desktop:~$ sudo ops
before init thread
after init thread
here
exit
opening ops
0
ERROR: (ops.cpp, 86): the icon picture files don't exist!
Failed to open file 'blankdir.png': No such file or directory

dave@dave-desktop:~$
I have tried the gui ops (I guess an older version than this) and it finds the camera but cannot connect to it.
I tried avidownload and get the following:
dave@dave-desktop:~/avidownload/src$ sudo ./avidownload
Closing devices...

Found the camcorder: Pure Digital Inc. , VID:167B PID:0101

I am using a USB cable directly soldered on the board until I know I get everything working. Using pin 10 as ground, pin 6 as the red lead, pin 9 as the white lead, and pin 7 as the green lead (found this on the net somewhere).
The camcorder, from CVS, says the following:
11/29/1964 22:16
FW-VERSION: 53.18
Realm ID = 20
GF5Q72901671
PCB VER: DC-6910 A5
I'm new at this, and was wondering if this version of the camcorder can be made to work, and how. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Green is a problem

Oops - my bad - I really did have the green on pin 8 - nothing on pin 7. Sorry about that!

@anewguy. the problem in the ops package is my fault. I forgot to include the .png files in the package.

Is there a way I can dummy it up somehow?
Thanks!

Small changes needed - can anyone help? There are a couple of small changes that need to be made to ops-for-linux in order for it to work with my cameras and Ubuntu. I made the changes in the source I have, but I can't get it compiled, etc.. Is there anyone out there still maintaining ops for Linux and if so, could they make these changes for me?
Thanks! :D

I'm also interested in an update for Gutsy, or even just still Debian Etch. Something that already has the dependencies filled in and will auto-query it (nonsense if the package doesn't have the dependency built in). Any news? Or perhaps the la-*test*-('") source as well as the requirements to build, as I can do a checkinstall then and maybe at least build a feisty deb that I can install in gutsy...
