Please help a brotha' out! Can't unlock FW Version 53.18 :(
This will be my 3rd night trying to get this camera unlocked. I'm definitely not as savvy with this as I would like to be, but I'm trying. (I really am!) I've d/l'd and run One-ClickSetup ( 11/10/07 version) and OPS v0.21. OPS opens the camera, fails the unlock. I've gone through dozens of posts to no avail. I've tried running CronusKey-1.3, burningman, and burningmangui. I wish I knew what i was doing wrong! I am following all the readme's to a "T" W/ GuyFawkes' method listed in the "read me" file, I copy the challenge from OPS v0.21 as follows: " S YourNameHere C 04e762ed486ec80d36ff47350bd50191969ac740ca7ddc05ac85fc3f70259d1b C de107508fb4e3c6be690b39400c1e5f14fddad822506788dfcd54c93a5ee0a82 C a2d7f02cd00a61f84948e9d888317c7bce12fec3c5fe09796320ea40124fecc7 C 0ee3da430ec7bf1d26d0f0e7ec4d4c95dae0c3eaf38c1530a90edc2cff71cd51 " and then change the date of my computer to nov. 5th. I then open burningman.txt, delete " *paste your challenges here* ", and then paste my challenges. (should i be saving this?) I then open and run burningman. It opens w/ the story and a prompt for "Press any key to continue..." I right click the cursor at the end of "Press any key to continue..." , click on "select all" (which highlights all the text,) and ctrl+c (which then un-highlights the entire text.) I then open a blank WordPad document and paste the text. The only text that is pasted is the story but the GuyFawkes ReadMe clearly states to, "delete everything except for the challenge and response." I don't have ANY challenges or responses. just the story. I save as "saturnkeys.txt" in my main Ops-0.21 folder. I then tried a number of different things in various random orders. I closed and opened Ops, unplugged and plugged in my camera, closed and opened the camera via Ops, all to no avail. I then tried posting the Challenges, the Responses and both the Challenges and Responses in Burningmankeys.txt. I tried saving it in all different directories to no success either. I tried using Cronuskey exactly as stated in the readme and that didn't unlock it either. Neither did Burningmangui's. Please help! I'm dying here! With CronusKey did you: 1. copy your Challenge/Response pair(C/R) to Cronuskeys.txt? 2. run Cronus.exe 3. copy the C/R pair from this saturnkeys.txt file to the directory you launch OPS v0.21 from. 4. does OPS say after clicking "open camcorder" then clicking "unlock": "External key file, saturnkeys.txt was found and will be loaded"? First of all, thanks a bunch for replying. I've got a few questions regarding your response. With CronusKey did you: 1. copy your Challenge/Response pair(C/R) to Cronuskeys.txt? *Does the C/R from my failure to unlock in Ops also include, "S YourNameHere"? *Do I copy the C's as well as the R's? *Once pasted into Cronuskeys.txt, do I then save it? If so, in what directory? 2. run Cronus.exe 3. copy the C/R pair from this saturnkeys.txt file to the directory you launch OPS v0.21 from. *At first, (not knowing if I should or not,) I didn't save the pasted C/R in Cronuskeys.txt, but pasted it and left Cronuskeys.txt open. *I ran Cronos, it said it opened Cronuskeys.txt, then "S CronusKey", followed by 4 Challenges and 4 Responses. It then said that it had been automatically stored in Saturnkeys.txt. I hit spacebar and then Cronos closed. *When I looked at the Saturnkeys.txt file it had 2 pairs of C/R's. So I got an S, 4C's, 4R's, a skipped line then an S, 4C's, 4R's. *Should I delete all the text in Saturnkeys.txt and save it blank and then re-run the sequence? *I then right clicked the Saturnkeys.txt thumbnail, copied it from within the CronusKey-1.3 folder, then pasted it into the OPS folder which also contained an Ops-source folder, a Changelog text doc., a GPL text doc. and four Ops MFC Applications. I just got: "The challenge key was the same as response. Moving on to try known keys... Checking if the Reset key matches the challenge Last ditch attempt. challenge=response, but trying a regular unlock anyway. failed to unlock camcorder Failed to unlock camcorder with key retrieved from memory! Sorry, your camcorder can not be unlocked with any known method." *Any ideas? Should I be unplugging and replugging the camera's usb? Should I be closing OPS v0.21 and reopening it at any particular time? Again... Thanks a ton for helping out!

delete all the text in CronusKey.txt and put the Challenge your camcorder gives you in CronusKey.txt, save it and then run Cronus.exe after you run it, it will give you the Challenge and Response copy it and put it in Saturnkeys.txt. Saturnkeys.txt has to be where the ops program is. it should look like this
