Point and Shoot Camcorder-comparisons and firmware
I was at the local Rite-Aid today and noticed the "Pure Digital Point and Shoot Video Camcorder" (which was on sale for $99). I spoke to the clerk a bit and me mentioned how it was essentially the same camcorder as the "one time use" one ( which they had with a $10 mail in rebate-at $20 I'll be getting one!). It had a USB hookup but also the palm III-ish connector and can be turned in for them to make a DVD of the video (however for the extra $79 they give you the camcorder back). Now I'd love to get my hands on one of the Point and Shoots to open up and compare to the One Time Use ( I've got a feeling that they'll be quite similar). I'd also like to see if it was passable to get the firmware off the Point and Shoot and flash it onto the One Time Use to get all of the features from the Point and Shoot. But I was sweating $30, so there's no way I'll be bricking (or buying for that matter) the $99 Point and Shoot. So I was wondering if anyone had done an analysis of the Pure Digital Point and Shoot, or if anyone had a copy of the firmware to try out (I'd be willing to brick the $20 One Time Use to see if this'll work). If anyone's looked into this please post on this thread or email me at draco (dot) red (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks, Draco_Red

Draco_Red, Only bricks have been created by trying to rewrite firmware. There has been no camcorder hacking activity for several months and it is very difficult for first time users to find older posts describing what has been attempted. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3494" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3494 forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3892" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3892 forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3583" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3583 Moderator - Please move this post to camcorder questions.
