Red Rite Aid 400 - 6600 Unlocked! Finally Got it!
I have a Red (really pink) 400 with no picture preview screen bought from Rite Aid, doesnt say PV2 anywhere I added the USB cable to pins 6 7 8 9.. not sure if I went on the right side.. My pcb said J5 on one end so I figured that was Contact 1 (1 was nearest the top of the camera, 10 at bottom?) Doing 2 types of pinches I get back these 2 sets of alphanumerics EA 60 61 60 20 00 66 00 28 28 23 I installed the lib usb although I am unaware of where to add 27,28,29 etc lines or where to find the inf file im supopsed to add them to. When cam is connected, PV2Tools cant see the camera or connect to it When I click connect, it just errors and closes (send/dont etc) it says the error has to dow ith libusb.dll or soemthing. I can post pics if needed of my cams insides/outs,screenshots, as well as the work I have done on the cam. I am trying to get this working as a beginner camera for my 7 yr old. IE I wont care if she breaks/loses it. Any help is greatly aprecciated. I have been up messing with this for 3 hours and now its 3:30 am... need sleep..lol.. Thanks Mike

Make sure your wires are not touching in the device manager point the camera to the driver.

Reezy- 10-16-2007

Nothing is popping up in device manager. If it does what section would it appear under. I am also unsure of what copy of pv2tools I should be using, and I am also unsure of which libusb to use? Should I be following this tutorial? Is this the most up to date? forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=339" target="_blank">http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=339 Should the camera power on when it is plugged to usb? Or beep or anything? Have I wired the usb correctly (correct pins used?) I must have did something because now it (pv2tools) doesnt error, it just says "cant find camera" Also I am dont know where in the INF file I am supposed to add that one line. Is it at the bottom? Thanks for any help guys

I think you are connecting to 2,3,4 & 5 (luckly for you ) (you got some practice soldering)(looking down at the board with the edge connector pointing away from you, contact 10 is to the left, contact 1 is to the right. (Your RED lead is connected to (5) not (6) )

Your right the wires are backwards

And the computer has detected it Under USB as 'RITZ PV2 Blue' However I still cannot access the pictures. Using PV2Tool its still cannot detect the camera, even tho it is clearly loaded in Device Manager...

post the debug screen from PV2tools

Reezy- 10-16-2007

I finally managed to get the camera detected in PV2Tools 2.19 and as soon as that happened I shorted and got the death beep and then clicked sdram keyscan... I think all worked; heres my debug report; PV2Tool 2.19 Use this software at your own risk. The author takes no responsibility if you damage your camera. either use pv2fetch or use Flatfoto2 drivers to get better pics I think FF2 gives better results

Reezy- 10-17-2007

and ff2 is only obtainable through radioshack?

Anonymous- 10-17-2007

FF2

Anonymous- 10-17-2007

load drivers on computer, go to PV2tools and change the PID to Flatfoto2 you will nolonger need PV2tools. It will show up under "My computer"

FF2 Installed fine and camera shows in 'my computer' now I can see the pics on the cam, they all show 3.14mb, then when I copy them and paste them from the camera to the desktop, I get 3 BMPs with no data in each of them (ie nothing) Whats going on?? PS: Pv2fetch works great Interested to see the BMPS from FF2 compared to the PV2Fetch JPG's thanks again guys
