Release the magic smoke
I'm sure buy now everyone on here has read the joke about the magic smoke and how it works. Well my first attempt at making a data cable worked pretty good for about 2 months. About a week ago my friends and I started having issues with the cable not wanting to work. Yesterday I found out why, since we failed to strain relief the cable, the hot lead came loose from the board and grounded to one of the data leads. Luckly the computer was not toasted, however the camera poped let out a flash of light and then relased all of the smoke and promplty quit working. Luckily for me CVS has a 100% satisfaction gaurantee, since i didnt take the camera apart, I took it right back and they well replaced it for free. The moral of the story, alway use the strain relief, and when something isnt working completely right, take a second to check out why.
