sad sad sad because I can't seem to even get started!
Please help me...I am a technerd and not in a good way! I have several 410s and a 510 CVS PD one time use digi camera, and I can't do ANYTHING to get photos off it. I have tried to download the software, have a cable, etc., but when I plug the cable into the USB port (oh god, is that the wrong place???) the software says it can't even read the camera! when I open up the PV2 icon on my desk, and press the open key, it says it can't find a camera. So I am guessing there is a problem somewhere...lol. Can someone helpwalk me thru in really really really easy terms that a 7 year old could understand (or younger...maybe my 4 year old can do it....). thanks a million...I have pics from Halloween and before and I really want to download them....I really like the cameras cuz they are cheap and cuz they show the shot....and as a single mom with no extra $, I need all the help I can get so I can preserve the cuteness of my son but not spend every extra laundry quarter I have...many thanks.

the problem is your cable or USB drivers not installed properly. When you plug your camera in (after unplugging it) do you see a new hardware found message on your windows screen? If not then your cable is probably not making the right connections.

I am not sure if I understand, but I think you are saying the cable works with the 410s and not with the 510. Correct? The bad news is the 510 does not work like the 410 and has not been hacked.

Still can't seem to download off my 410s... Thanks....so basically it sounds like the 510 isn't hackable...but I still have 2 410s and nothing nothing nothing happens when I plug the cord into it and then the cord into the USB port....when I call up the PV2Tool and try to open the camera,it just says that it can't find the camera.
So any ideas? Do I need to buy a new cord? Reload thd USB drivers? They seem to work with other items....printer, mouse, etc if that means anything...
And where can I get the new driver to download it ? I have tried a few different places with a disc And on line....
thanks!

I think the cable is suspect.

My camera shows up in the device manager as a "Ritz PV2 Red, Version 02/15/2004, 0.1.8.0". So I am assuming the drivers are ok. I open up PV2Tools and try to open the camera. It states "Couldn't Find Camera".
I use this cable for my CVS digital camcorder and it is fine.
PV2Tool2_libusb-0.1.8.0.exe crashes when I click "open camera".
PV2Tool2_libusb-0.1.10.1.exe says that it can't find it.
PV2Tool2_libusb-cvs20041118.exe crashes when I click "open camera"

I reinstalled the drivers and now
PV2Tool2_libusb-0.1.8.0.exe says "couldnt' find camera"
It shows up as a "Ritz PV2 Red, Version 02/15/2004, 0.1.8.0" in Windows.
One thing that I thought was interesting though was when I installed the drivers it installed but the -*test*-('") application said "Cannot retrieve descriptors"
