I found this topic to be missing from this huge flow of posts, really: how to brick a camera? HOW did you bricked YOUR(S)? what were you doing? I'll start with mine: it was powered off, i connected to the USB port and BEFORE it was fully booted UP i hit the \"open camcorder\" and then \"unlock\"... i got some write errors, and then the m230 screen went al greenish with lots of confused lines and pattern floating upside down :( Now if i link it to a usb hub windowze report a fault USB link and the hub disconnect affected port... (if i keep batteries inside i have that strange thinghs on the screen). I'm not sure ths methods could kill cams... however i lost mine... not sure if there is some way to resurrect it... :roll:

Shot mine out of a potato cannon. PCB broke (along with the record button). The case however survived and I use it still with my other cam (it was modded nicely..). Not really a \"brick\", but it doesn't power up anymore to say the least.

I've had a M230 decide to die on its own. I've bricked a M230 setting the bitrate setting to "00 00" I've bricked a M200 3.40 by uploading a USP.BIN from a M200 23.08 Accidentially knocked a SMT capacitor off (screwdriver slip-up while mounting it in a custom case) a M200 3.70 and the capacitor literally burned up (scared the crap out of me). Had a M220 33.19 brick itself after a failed flash image upload to change the splash screens. I guess it had bad sectors on the flash chip. Killed a M200 3.70 back in the day with a short hack gone wrong. By comparison, the PV2s seem damn near indestructable. Worst PV2 I've seen just sometimes won't turn on without futzing with it a bit first.

Well this didnt really happen but: underwater case failed... stupid peanut butter jar lol

Don't go dissin' the peanut butter jar. It works pretty good...better (or at least a little more \"secure\" than a ziploc bag).

Heh. I'm sure SOMEONE has killed their cam in the water. It has to have happened at least once.

i wonder if a camera has ever fallen off a RC plane/Heli.... :D

I've never heard of any news of it happening, but I have seen video of a CVS cam on the ground recording video of a nice RC buggy...when SMACK! The buggy hits the cam and sends it tumbling. Didn't kill the cam though... It was a TMAXX and it was like a week after I got the cam, when I had only one, and like to of scared the crap out of me. Glad it still works though. I still am using it. Not as much as back then. But next weekend it will get some use, it and the night vision one, where going to santee cooper to go fishing, got to love those big 'ol cats. Also will that program that was made to get keys from the code that was accidentally left open unlock pv2's? Cause I wouldn't mind haveing another one of those for next weekend. Hawk

I believe it will - the notes said something about 01,02,03, and 04 challenges, which pretty much covers them all. Give it a try. :)

Underwater vricking? ohhh, i'm going to inspect my 40-meters deep well, i will build a serious enclosure, stainless steel, glass or plexiglass removable window and some serious IR or standard white LEDs. Since i was a child i alwais wondered of what to find down there, and i hope in a month i will !

HowTo: Brick a Camcorder 1. Fry it. 2. Drop a brick on it. 3. Underwater case fails. 4. Run out of potatos for your potato cannon :shock: 5. Give it to your kids. 6. Flush it down the toliet. 7. Have your soldering iron slip when adding a usb pigtail. 8. Have it fall off a RC plane or heli 9. Throw it off a building in an atempt to see what a bird sees

10. Ran over with a car trying to see what is stuck between the axle and the body.

11. - Defragment the partitions (one too many i guess) with WinImage and then upload them back to the cam in blind ignorance :roll: :x . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :cry:
