What can/should I do with a M410/6600/2B cam?
I just went out and bought an M410 camera from CVS (6600 firmware, type 2B). I completed the hack (my first time doing it, yay!) and now I'm wondering what I can do do get the best-looking images out of this (admittedly $20) camera. Here's a shot I took at random and downloaded using pv2fetch. Not bad, but kinda grainy/fuzzy: I've skimmed through lots of information and have seen stuff about getting the FF2 driver CD from RadioShack, or using the Che-ez drivers; also things about modifying the firmware to increase the resolution (does this apply to my model? can't tell) and forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=3516>downgrading to the 6550 firmware for better images. I'm a little confused since some of the info is old and no longer applicable, et cetera... So, my question is: what's the "la-*test*-('") and grea-*test*-('")" I can do to/with a M410/6600/2B? (Also, do the FF2 drivers allow me to use the cam as a USB mass storage device instead of going through a TWAIN driver?)

To get rid of the fuzz in the picture... shave the cat.

... Would that be a hardware modification, or a software one?

Go outdoors and take some HDR shots with sun rays: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3040040 Use either ratshack FF2 driver/inf or getmypix.exe from an FF3 (FF3 firmware is needed to operate in mass storage mode). Also try some through the window shots to demonstrate the power of Keith Fife's SMaL patent: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5420210

Shave the cheerleader, save the world. And what did your Texas leader cheer about today? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=failure

(FF3 firmware is needed to operate in mass storage mode). Sorry for the n00b question, but are you referring to flashing a PV2 with FF3 firmware? ... or something else entirely?

Sorry for the n00b question, but are you referring to flashing a PV2 with FF3 firmware? ... or something else entirely? Something else entirely! If you can get getmypix.exe from an FF3 then you can use it on a PC to convert RAWs downloaded from your PV2. I use the FF2 PC driver files when downloading picutres using Irfanview.

And what did your Texas leader cheer about today? If you value your life, don't mess with Texas cheerleaders or their moms. Several people have wound up on the wrong side of morbidity doing that lately. And whatever you do, don't eat or drink anything they offer. Unless you have a taste for bleach or weed killer.

And whatever you do, don't eat or drink anything they offer. You should also deny any hunting invitations while in the state of Texas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney_hunting_incident

They're free... the state wants to thin out them obnoxious pests.

PD 410 cam
I was connecting a new 410 still cam to my pc. I did a open and unlock without doing anything to the cam and this is what happened: Found the camera: SMaL Digital Camera, VID:0DCA PID:0027 Found camera. Connected to camera. Requesting challenge from camera Recieved challenge from camera Comparing Reset key to challenge Comparing Morcheeba's key to challenge Challenge matches Morcheeba's key Sending response Succeeded at unlocking camera. I was suprised that I could do this without any camera alteration. Just a fluke?

Long ago, each pv2 used one of two keys, the reset key or morcheeba's key. (named after him because he was the one who initially retrieved it by desoldering the flash from his cam) This allowed us to get into cams without any hardware hacks, until PD gave each cam a unique key. I'm guessing that you've managed to lay your hands on some really old stock.
