What happened to my camera?
Awhile ago one of my friends got a CVS cam and tried to hack it. He destroyed the power button somehow and gave it to me. Today I finally got it to work (using a screwdriver) and this is what it says: FW-VERSION: 03.70 CAMERA ID: Not Initialized PCB VER: Unknown Does this mean I can just hook it up the the computer and it will work?

Don't Know???? Ask around.Thats crazy.

he is asking around. easiest thing you can do is try to get it to work. quite literally, we can't plug it in for you.

@SaturnNiGHTS is it possible that the attempted hack caused the camera to clear it's memory?

is it possible that the attempted hack caused the camera to clear it's memory? Yes and no. Its possible that the person who destroyed the power button also shorted out the cams circuit board, but its impossible for the camera to "self destruct" because it was being tampered with (for now, at least).

I'm betting that the firmware is partially corrupted or the USP.bin is corrupted. I know for sure that the camera id in inside the USP.bin, but I'm not sure about the board revision. If that's the case, the only fix that might work would be to try the old short method to get the FSP to replace the USP. It might revive the camcorder, but the FSP has the same info as the USP stored in it and is not readily unlockable. If I remember right, the 3.70's is where they started making the USP and FSP indentical, unless you get lucky and happen to have one that has the reset key still in the FSP. You would have to still get the correct c/r

by that vulcan pinch screen, and the fact that it's a 3.7, it sounds like the fsp.bin was already used to overwrite the usp.bin has the person tried plugging it in yet?
